Sierra Northern Railway is looking to fill the position of Conductor/Engineer at our Woodland, California Terminal minutes away from Sacramento. This is a full time position with health insurance, paid vacation and paid holidays and railroad retirement. Applicants must be able to work 24hr a day, 7 days a week. They must also be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Must have the ability to travel to job sites around the area and remain on site perhaps for days or more. Weekend and Holiday work required.
Responsible for train operation and movement.
Obtain, receive, relay, and/or act upon oral or written instructions and nformation from the engineer, dispatcher, foreman, yard master or other personnel, in person or by other communication devices (e.g. radio, telephone). Operate switches and derails. Inspect train cars or other equipment. Applies and releases hand brakes on cars or locomotives. Gets on and off moving equipment. Rides moving cars by hanging on to grab irons or ladder, sometimes for extended periods of time.
Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally, and assisting in the infrequent movement of weights of up to 83 pounds.

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a valid driver's license.
High school diploma or GED required.
